I have a new to me Nexus 6P. Currenty running project fi because it works great when I travel to Canada. The other day I turned on the hotspot for my friend who has no Canada data access. My phone is fully ad blocked with Ad Away. Long story short, I checked my DNS log and found that his phone was requesting various ad servers that I know are blocked otherwise (those requests are routed back to 127.0.0.1 via internal server in ad away). Does android bypass the hosts file when the hotspot is on?
